Nicholas Van de Velde  .

Nicholas Van de Velde (°1994) started to play piano at 5. At  9, he won the 1st prize at the Gretry competition and was as well laureate of the Epta competition. At the same time, he was admitted at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chappel under the guidance of  Abdel Rahman El Bacha. He graduated in  2013 with honours.

 

He won several national and international competitions ('Cantabile competition', 'Rotary Breughel Competition', 'International Steinway Competition', 'Charlier Piano Competition', 'Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists'…). In 2004, he was chosen by the Queen Paola to perform at the Royal Palace where he played the  23rd  piano concerto or  Mozart. He represented Belgium at famous  festivals such as the 'International Steinway Festival' in Hamburg, 'Festival de Vexin' in France,  Encuentro de Musica y Academia de Santander.

In 2008 Nicholas made his
  debut at the Henri Le Boeuf Zaal in BOZAR, performing the 2nd  piano concerto by Dmitri Shostakovich with the National Orchestra of Belgium. He played as well in concert halls such as  'Studio 4' or  Flagey, 'Salle Henri Le Boeuf' in BOZAR, 'Laeiszhalle' in Hamburg, 'Richard Jakoby Saal' in Hanover,  Sala Argenta in Santander, playing concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Chopin, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff…
In 2018, he was invited by
  Muziekraad Vlaanderen to represent Belgium in Venezula: He performed in the famous Simon Bolivar Hall of Caracas the Maurice Ravel left hand concerto with orchestra.

In 2011, Nicholas started to study at the  Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Jan Michiels and  hey joined  the class of Markus Groh at the 'Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien' in Hanover in 2013.
In 2014 he followed his teacher Markus Groh to the 'Universität der Kunste' in Berlin where he is currently studying. Nicholas took masterclasses with
  Menahem Pressler, Paul-Badura Skoda, Rudolf Buchbinder,Dmitri Bashkirov, among others.
