Jonathan Van de Velde  .

Jonathan Van de Velde was born on May 2, 1991. At the age of 5 he started his cello studies in the class of Jan Bontinck. At the age of 13 he was admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in the young talent class, where he studied with Ilia Laporev. Five years later, he continued his cello studies here in France Springuel's class.

Jonathan Van de Velde has won prizes in several national and international competitions. He received 3rd prize at the Rotary International Music Competition, 2nd prize at the Young Soloist Competition, twice 1st prize at the Dexia Classics Competition, once as a soloist and once for chamber music with his brother Yannick, and 1st prize at the Edmond Baert International Cello Competition.

Jonathan Van de Velde followed masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Jean-Guihen Queyras, Vladimir Perlin, Laszlo Fenyo, Wolfgang Boettcher, Jerome Pernoo, Hélène Dautry and Maria Kliegel.
