Klaus Hellwig .

Klaus Hellwig's career got off to a steep start after winning awards at the "Marguérite Long - Jacques Thibaud" Competition in Paris and the "Viotti" Competition in Vercelli/Italy.
He studied with Detlef Kraus, Pierre Sancan (Paris), Guido Agosti (Accademia Chigiana Siena) and Wilhelm Kempff.
He gave concerts throughout Europe, the United States and Canada, Australia, Brazil, Middle East and Asia. He was a soloist with orchestras such as the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin (formerly Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin), the West German Radio Orchestra Cologne, het Bayrian Radio Orchestra of Munich and many others; the Hungarian Radio Orchestra Budapest, the Bucharest and Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra; the orchestras of Baltimore and San Francisco, and many others.
After teaching for 10 years at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, Klaus Hellwig started teaching at the University of the Arts Berlin. He gave masterclasses in Germany, France, Ukraine, Romania, Brazil, Korea and Japan.
He was a jury member in many competitions, including the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Leeds Competition, ARD competition in Munich (solo and piano duo), "Busoni" Competition in Bolzano, de Dublin Piano Competition, "Viotti" Competition in Vercelli/Italy, "Robert Schumann" in Zwickau, "José Iturbi" in Valencia and Sendai (Japan) Competition.

He is one of the most successful educators worldwide, his students have won first prizes or become laureates in more than 100 competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Van Cliburn Competition, Tchaikovsky Competition, Santander Piano Competition, Schumann Piano Competition, Sidney Piano Competition.
