Samuel Van de Velde  .

Samuel Van de Velde was born in Belsele on January 23, 1998 as the youngest son in a family of four musical brothers.

Like his brothers, he started playing the piano when he was six.

It soon became apparent that he had a special talent and Samuel did very well in several competitions. He became the first laureate of several competitions: Cantabile (2X), the National Piano Competition Cavatine in Namur.

He also won second and third prizes at the Rotary Breughel competition.

 

At the age of 10 he was admitted to the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel to study with Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Dimitris Saroglou.

There he also attended masterclasses with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Dimitri Bashkirov.

 

In 2010 he was invited as a soloist with the symphonic youth orchestra of Limburg to perform a Mozart concerto and in 2012 the 2nd piano concerto by Dmitri Sjostakovitch in the Blauwe Zaal van Desingel in Antwerp.

In 2015 he won a 1st prize at the Belfius-Classics competition, and performed with Liszt's 1st piano concerto in the Muntschouwburg,  together with the orchestra 'Prima la Musica.' He is currently a student of Jan Michiels at the Brussels Conservatory. In addition, he also studies with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden at the Eduardo Del Pueyo school. Samuel also plays chamber music, often with his brothers.
