Erik Desimpelaere .

Erik Desimpelaere is a Belgian composer, pianist and conductor. He obtained a Master's degree in Piano at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Piet Kuijken and a Master's degree in Composition at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp with Wim Henderickx and Luc Van Hove. He is currently studying Orchestral Conducting at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Ed Spanjaard and Lucas Vis.

Erik Desimpelaere composes music for various instrumentations: from symphonic orchestra, music theatre, concert band to chamber music and solo repertoire. Erik has already worked as a composer with various ensembles and artists, including the Bruges Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Bands of the Guides and the Navy, kugoni trio, astria threesome, Belgian Brass, Eburon Quintet, Arco Baleno and David Desimelaere.
He is also active as an arranger with various ensembles.

Erik Desimpelaere has a regular duo with his brother as a pianist David Desimpelaere, double bassist.
In 2013 they released the CD 'Reflections on a song' (Phaedra Classics) with Belgian repertoire for double bass and piano. Their second CD 'Smile' (Dynamic Records) was released in March 2018. Erik is also active at the Chiarina piano trio and regularly performs with various chamber music ensembles.
