Clara Strobel

Clara Strobel (° Sint-Niklaas, Belgium - 2002) comes from a musical family and received her first piano lessons from her father. From 2009 to 2013 she took piano lessons at d'Academie Podium in her hometown with Johan Lybeert. Until 2019 she studied at the “Robert Schumann Musikhochschule” Düsseldorf in the young talent department “Schumann Junior” in the class of Prof. Barbara Szczepanska. Since November 2020, she has been studying bachelor's degree in piano at the “Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien” in Hannover with Prof. Ewa Kupiec. In addition to her love for the piano, orchestral conducting has also become a new passion, without which Clara cannot imagine her further musical education. She is currently also studying orchestral conducting in Hannover with Prof. Martin Brauß. Her broad artistic interests led her to study harpsichord, singing, guitar, dance and speech at the d'Academie Podium during her childhood and teenage years, in addition to her piano studies.
Clara is a laureate of several competitions: 1st prize at the German regional music competition “Jugend Musiziert” for chamber music (2008) and for piano solo (2009), 3rd prize as the youngest laureate at the Belgian Cantabile Piano Competition (2010) and 1st prize at the Steinway Competition (2013), where she was also chosen to represent Belgium at the 16th International Steinway Festival for Youth in Hamburg (September 2014). In September 2020 she won 2nd prize at the Cantabile Piano Competition in the age category up to 19 years.
In addition, in 2011 she also received the cultural prize for emerging talent from the city of Sint-Niklaas.
She was able to gain concert experience during performances in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and South Korea, both solo and in chamber music. She also received further musical impulses during master classes with, among others, Georg Friedrich Schenck, Anna Malikova, Daniel Blumenthal, Severin von Eckardstein, Janusz Olejniczak, Bernd Goetzke, Geoffrey D. Madge, Ian Fountain, Boris Berman and Lev Vinocour.
Despite her young age, she already has an enormous repertoire, from baroque to contemporary music.
